SIFF VR Cinema Hub: Immersive Storytelling Showcase
In 2019, we elevated our partnership with the Sofia International Film Festival by launching a VR Cinema Hub focused on immersive storytelling and cultural heritage. Utilizing Oculus Rift headsets and synchronized viewing software, we showcased a curated selection of 360° films that transported audiences to new worlds. The activation highlighted the evolution of cinematic narratives and our expertise in delivering high-fidelity, collective VR experiences.
Challenge
Traditional film festivals often struggle to integrate "New Media" and immersive storytelling into their programs due to a lack of specialized infrastructure and technical expertise. SIFF needed a way to showcase high-end VR content like 'Spheres' alongside local heritage projects to stay relevant to tech-savvy audiences and industry professionals.
Outcome
Successfully integrated immersive media into the official SIFF program with over 450 participants.
Technologies
The bilingual support was crucial for our pan-European rollout. Both the English and Bulgarian versions were equally polished.
