VR team building in your office: a three-hour team day for 8–40 people

Three fixed formats, teams on a live leaderboard, one price per participant. We bring the headsets and run it, or you run it yourself with a preloaded kit.

Quick answer

A VR team day is a team-building event where colleagues play short virtual reality games in teams, with the scores on a shared leaderboard, without leaving the office. VR Express runs it as a product, not a custom project: you pick one of three fixed formats for 8 to 40 people, we bring standalone headsets and facilitators, and you pay per participant with a minimum per event. If you prefer, you rent the preloaded kit and host it yourself. Event agencies can sell the same team day under their own brand at a partner rate. VR Express is an XR studio in Sofia, working since 2015, and the games are our own.

Who the VR team day is for

  • HR, people and office managers planning a year-end party, a spring offsite, a new-office opening or an onboarding cohort event, who want something the whole team talks about without booking buses and venues.
  • Teams of 8 to 40 in one office. Larger companies book several sessions on the same day, one per department or floor.
  • Event agencies and DMCs that want a ready VR product for their corporate clients, sold under their own name, without building or maintaining the games.

If your goal is an external brand activation or a booth at a fair rather than an internal team event, see our VR campaigns and brand activations instead.

Three fixed formats

Each format is a fixed playlist of games, a fixed running order and a fixed price logic. That is what lets us confirm quickly and keep the price predictable.

VR Happy Hour

About 2 hours · 8–20 people

A relaxed rotation through the shooting range, archery and climbing. Everyone plays at their own pace and the individual leaderboard on the screen keeps the room talking. Fits an afternoon or an after-work slot.

Team Cup

About 3 hours · 12–30 people

Teams of three to five compete across four games: shooting range, climbing, archery and the space quiz. Points add up to a team leaderboard, and the session ends with the final standings and an award moment.

Mission Day

3.5–4 hours · 20–40 people

The Team Cup plus cybersecurity and warehouse rounds, for larger groups and longer slots. Optionally we add a quiz round about your own company, its history, values or products.

The games

All games start from one lobby on a standalone headset, so switching rounds is quick and needs no cables or PCs. They are built by VR Express for groups: short rounds, simple controls and a score at the end of every round.

  • Shooting range — practice targets, clay shooting and a boss round.
  • Archery — aim, draw and release; easy to learn, hard to master.
  • Climbing — a race to the top against the clock.
  • Space quiz and asteroids — a quiz round with an arcade finale.
  • Cybersecurity — a round built around cybersecurity themes.
  • Warehouse — a round set in a virtual warehouse.

How it works

  1. Short call — group size, date, room and format. You get a fixed price from the headcount.
  2. Room check and team split — we confirm the space, power and screen, and send a simple sheet to split people into teams.
  3. Event day — facilitators set up before your team arrives, brief each player, run the rounds and keep the leaderboard live on the screen.
  4. Wrap-up — final standings, an award moment, and a short results sheet with team scores and a few photos for your internal channels.

Self-run option: we deliver a preloaded kit with a two-page runbook and a short setup call. Your host starts each round from the lobby; we stay on call during the event. Agencies: the same kit and formats, under your brand, at a partner rate. More about how we work on the process page.

What you get: first team day, team day pass, run

  • First team day — a fixed-price pilot: one Team Cup for your group in your office, with the results sheet and photos. If you continue with a pass, the pilot is credited to it.
  • Team day pass — three or four team days a year in any format, dates locked in advance, at a pass rate. Each event uses the formats above, so there is no new quote and no new lead time.
  • Run — for agencies, a long-term kit with a new round each quarter, remote support and a per-participant fee; for companies, a yearly pass renewal with a game refresh.

Every event ends with the numbers you care about: who played, how many rounds, final team standings, and a one-question pulse on whether people want to do it again.

Team events we have run

We have run VR at company events since 2017. A few of them, with the hardware of their time:

  • WPX — in-office VR happy hour

Tech · 2019 · Pop-up VR hub in the office

A standard happy hour turned into a team-building event inside the WPX office: six VR stations, 50 employees, sessions of 20–30 minutes across a five-hour window, and nobody had to leave the workplace.

  • Playtech — full-day VR team event

    Tech · 2017 · Holiday event

A full-day corporate VR activation and holiday event for Playtech employees, with multiple VR stations and immersive sessions running through the day.

  • ICSS — Immersive Team Journey

    Energy sector · 2017 · Multi-reality teambuilding

A VR arcade setup that combined PC VR and mobile VR, designed so colleagues solved problems together and competed in a friendly way.

  • Nokia & Comptel — acquisition event

    Telecom · 2018 · Internal celebration

Three VR stations engaged more than 120 employees at the event that celebrated the merger, planned for smooth logistics and high throughput.

  • Telenor Digital Days

    Telecom · 2018 · Internal corporate event

An immersive showcase with 360° stereoscopic video at Telenor's internal Digital Days, introducing employees to what VR can do for learning and engagement.

  • Booking.com — winter party

    Tech · 2017 · Seasonal company event

VR at Booking.com's annual winter event, with seasonal environments and interactive holiday-themed games for the team.

VR team day vs an escape room or a VR arcade outing

The usual alternatives are an outing (escape room, bowling, karting) or a trip to a VR arcade. Both work, but both cost a travel slot, and both give you one activity on someone else's schedule.

  • No travel — the event happens in your office, so the team day fits into an afternoon instead of eating a whole day.
  • Six games in one session — instead of one activity, people pick what they enjoy and still score for the team.
  • Built for groups — team scoring and a shared leaderboard keep the people who are not in a headset involved, which consumer arcade games are not designed to do.
  • Fixed price per person — no custom quote, no venue fee; the headcount gives you the cost.
  • Your company in the game — the optional quiz round can be about your own business, which an arcade cannot offer.

Frequently asked questions about the VR team day

What is a VR team day?

A team event where colleagues play short virtual reality games on standalone headsets, in teams, with a shared leaderboard on a screen in the room. VR Express brings the headsets, the games and the facilitators to your office, runs a fixed format of two to four hours, and closes with the final standings and a winners' moment.

How many people can take part?

The formats are built for groups of 8 to 40. Smaller groups play more rounds each; larger groups are split into teams that rotate through the stations while the rest follow the leaderboard. For reference, in an earlier in-office event for WPX, 50 employees cycled through sessions over a five-hour window.

Do we need space or special equipment?

One meeting room or open area with power sockets and a screen for the leaderboard is enough for most groups. We bring everything else: headsets, controllers, chargers and hygiene covers. We check the room with you before the date.

Can we run it ourselves without facilitators?

Yes. The self-run option is a preloaded headset kit with a short runbook and a setup call. The games start from one lobby, so a person from your team can host the rounds. If you want us to host, choose the facilitated option.

How is it priced?

Per participant, with a minimum per event, so you know the cost from the headcount. The price depends on the format and on whether we facilitate or you self-run. Book a short call and we send the exact price for your group size and date.

We are an event agency. Can we sell it under our brand?

Yes. Agencies get a white-label partner rate. You sell the team day under your own name and set your own price; we deliver it with neutral-branded facilitators, or lend you a preloaded kit for your own crew.

What if someone does not want to wear a headset?

Nobody has to play every game. Rounds are short, and the room is part of the game: teammates call out advice, follow the scores and cheer from the leaderboard. You can join for one or two rounds and spend the rest of the time supporting your team.

When is your next team event?

Tell us the date, the headcount and the room. We confirm the format and send a fixed price per participant. Agencies: ask for the partner rate and the white-label kit.
