A career-fair VR game that turns your stand into the queue

Quick answer

A career-fair VR game is a short, branded game candidates play at your stand. They answer questions about your company, climb, aim and score inside a world built on your employer brand, and watch their name rise on a leaderboard screen. Players who opt in leave their details, which go to your applicant tracking system as a clean list. VR Express, an XR studio in Sofia working since 2015, has run career-event games for banks in Bulgaria for years. This offer packages that work: a reusable game engine, your content pack, headsets with an operator, consented lead capture and a dashboard after every event. You start with a fixed-price pilot for one fair.

Who it is for

Heads of employer branding, talent-acquisition leads and campus-recruiting teams at companies that take a stand at several career fairs a year: banks, Big 4 and professional services, telecoms, FMCG and technology employers. It fits best when you hire graduates and early-career talent in volume and compete for the same students as every other stand in the hall.

Career fairs run in two seasons. The autumn season is under way now; the spring fairs are booked between November and January. If you are planning spring, now is the time to pilot.

The problem with most career-fair stands

The hall is a row of roll-ups, tote bags and pens. Gen Z candidates walk past most of them, and the ones who stop leave a paper form or a business card that someone types up a week later, if at all. When the season ends, the employer-branding team can say how much the stand cost but not how many candidates it produced.

A game fixes both halves. It gives candidates a reason to stop and a story to tell their friends, and it gives your recruiters a clean, consented list and numbers they can report.

How it works

  1. Brief (week 1). A 30-minute call, then a short workshop on your employer brand: values, career paths, the facts candidates get wrong about you, and the fairs on your calendar.
  2. Content pack (weeks 1–3). We write your questions and challenges, apply your branding and career paths to the game, and set up the consent screen with your data-protection team. English and Bulgarian are ready; other languages are added per pack.
  3. Stand kit (week 3–4). Headsets loaded with your pack, a local Wi-Fi router so the stand never depends on the venue network, a leaderboard screen and an optional browser version on tablets or a QR code for the queue.
  4. Event day. Our operator runs the stand with your recruiters. Each round takes a few minutes; scores go to the leaderboard live, and players who opt in leave their name, email and preferred career path.
  5. After the event. You receive the lead export for your ATS and a dashboard: players, opt-ins, scores, career-path interest and peak hours. We agree what to change for the next fair.

What you get: pilot, full build, run

  • Pilot: one event, fixed price. Your branded content pack on our quiz game engine, one language, a stand kit with operator for one event, consented lead capture and the post-event dashboard. Three to four weeks from brief to stand. The pilot price is credited in full to the full build.
  • Full build: your season. More game modes and career paths, a second language, a browser version for the queue and your careers page, and a direct lead push to your ATS where it supports imports.
  • Run: the season pass. Headsets, operator and kit for each fair, a content refresh between seasons, device updates and a dashboard per event. Booked per event day or as a pass for the whole spring or autumn season.

Career-event games we have built

  • UBB VR Tower of Success

    Banking · 2024 · VR career game

UBB's headquarters rebuilt in VR as a climbing gym. Candidates climb towards the top of their career and, at the summit, get a virtual selfie with the career path they chose from six directions: a personal souvenir that keeps the brand in their pocket.

  • UBB VR Tower of Success, Version 2

    Banking · 2025 · VR career game

The second version of the tower: each level adds questions about banking and UBB's culture, with better graphics and more complex play. The same client came back for a richer game, which is the content-pack model in practice.

  • UBB at National Career Day 2025

    Banking · 2025 · Career-fair activation

An immersive VR experience on UBB's stand for students and recent graduates, presenting the bank's culture and career opportunities. A repeat booking after National Career Day 2024.

  • UBB Kosher 24 employer-branding campaign

    Banking · 2024 · VR event

A VR event for UBB's employer-branding campaign: a virtual tour of a modern UBB workplace, with interactive scenarios that introduce candidates to the bank's values and vision.

  • Postbank Talent Attractor (Meta Quizzes)

    Banking · 2023 · Gamified VR quiz

A high-energy recruitment game in which candidates learn about the bank by hitting physical targets in VR to answer quiz questions. It is the direct ancestor of the quiz engine behind this offer.

  • Postbank AR Recruitment Game

    Banking · 2023 · WebAR game

A browser-based AR game for orientation days and talent events: players have 30 seconds to catch floating 3D icons of the bank's brand values in the room around them. No app, no headset.

Career-fair VR game vs a rented VR experience

The usual alternative is to rent a generic VR experience or a photo booth for the day, or to hand the job to an event agency that sources one. That gets attention, but it stops there.

  • Your brand, not a demo. A rented experience is a roller coaster or a zombie shooter. Ours is your workplace, your values and your career paths, so candidates leave knowing something true about you.
  • Leads, not just a crowd. Every player who opts in becomes a record in your pipeline, with consent and their chosen career path, instead of a stack of cards.
  • Numbers you can report. The dashboard shows players, opt-in rate and interest by career path per event, so you can compare fairs and defend next season's budget.
  • Reused, not rebuilt. The engine stays the same; only the content pack changes. Refreshing for spring costs a fraction of a new build.

Frequently asked questions

What is a career-fair VR game?

A short, branded game that candidates play at your stand, in a VR headset or on a tablet. It is built around your company: your values, your career paths, your workplace. A round takes a few minutes, a live leaderboard keeps the queue watching, and each player can opt in to leave their contact details, which go straight to your recruiting team.

How are candidate details captured, and is it GDPR-compliant?

Players opt in on a short consent screen before they leave their name and email. The consent text is yours, approved by your legal or data-protection team, and nobody is added to your pipeline without ticking it. Leads are exported as a CSV after each event day, or pushed to your applicant tracking system if it offers an import interface. That integration is scoped in the pilot.

Do we need headsets, and who runs the stand?

We bring the headsets, a local Wi-Fi router, the leaderboard screen and an operator who gets each player in and out quickly. For a faster-moving queue, a browser version of the same game runs on tablets or on the candidate's own phone through a QR code. Most stands use both: headsets for the showpiece, browser for the queue.

How long does it take to build our version?

The game engine already exists, so we build your content pack rather than a new game: your questions, branding, career paths and languages. A pilot for one event takes three to four weeks from the kick-off brief to a stand-ready kit, including a test run with your employer-branding team.

What does it cost?

The pilot is a fixed-price package for one event, and its price is credited in full against the full build if you continue. After that you choose a per-event-day rate or a season pass covering the spring or autumn career season. We confirm the exact figure after a 30-minute brief, once we know the number of events, languages and headsets.

Can we reuse the game after the career season?

Yes. The content lives in data files, so questions and career paths can be refreshed for each season without rebuilding the app. The same game works at campus days, internal open days and onboarding sessions, and the browser version can stay on your careers page between events.

How is this different from a VR experience we rent for one event?

A rental gives you a crowd. This gives you a pipeline: a game built on your employer brand, consented leads in your recruiting system, and a dashboard that shows how many people played, how many opted in and which career paths they chose. Those numbers are what let you defend the budget for the next season.

Which fair do you want to win next?

Send us your career-fair calendar. In a 30-minute brief we will tell you which event suits a pilot, what the content pack needs from your team and how leads reach your ATS.
